Marcus Hübner, owner and managing director, was born on 09/08/1966 in Trier. Starting at a young age, he gathered insight and experience in piano making in the piano workshop of his father. In 1984 he started his 42-month long training as a piano maker at the enterprise SCHIMMEL in Braunschweig. In 1987 he won the 2nd price at the national piano tuning competition held by the Federation of German Piano Makers (BDK). In 1989 he founded his company Pianohaus Marcus Hübner. In 1995 Mr Hübner completed his masterpiece at the SEILER company in Kitzingen and was decorated with the master craftsman's certificate for piano and harpsichord making. In 2002,Pianohaus Marcus Hübner also started offering upright and grand pianos of the house brand M.HÜBNER.

Master of piano and harpsichord building

Jens Wagner, born on 21/03/1967 in Frankfurt am Main, learned the trade of piano making from 1984 to 1987 at the enterprise C.BECHSTEIN. After completion of his training, Mr Wagner intended to study music at university and successfully passed the entry examinations for a course in piano studies. Unfortunately, compulsory military service got in the way, which was then followed by self-employment as a piano maker in Calw. Since 1996 he is active as a piano maker in our field staff as well as in our workshop. In September 2005, Mr Wagner successfully completed the examinations for the master craftsman's certificate and gratuated with honors in Munich.

Rudi Kasel
Master of piano and harpsichord building

Born on 19/02/1955, Rudi Kasel discovered his passion for playing the piano very early during his childhood. In 1969 he learned the trade of piano making at the company SCHELLENBERG within three and a half years, and was later employed by Musik Noel (Luxembourg) for concert services at the National Theatre of Luxembourg and Radio Luxemburg. In 1977 he moved back to Trier and worked for a music shop for 27 years. Twelve years ago he successfully completed the examination for the master craftsman's certificate in piano making. We are delighted that, since 2006, Rudi Kasel has enriched our company with over 40 years of professional experience in piano making.

Piano and harpsichord maker

Yang-Hun Jong was born in Seoul, Korea, on 14/01/1974. Sortly before taking up his unversity studies in trombone playing, he gained insights into the craft of piano tuning through a friend. The instrument and the skill impressed him so much, he decided to train as a piano tuner parallel to his studies at the prestigious Chung-Ang University. After graduation Mr Jong worked as a sales and service representative of the Korean branch of BÖSENDORFER and decided afterwards to learn the trade of piano maker in Germany. In 2003, Yang-Hun Jong began his apprenticeship at Pianohaus Marcus Hübner, completed the year 2005 top of the class in the tuning competition of the Federation of German Piano makers (BDK), and subsequently passed his journeyman's examination with flying colours. Mr Jong is currently taking his examination for the master craftsman's certificate.

Sonja Thöing
Marketing and distribution

Sonja Thöing, born on 26/03/1983 in Bad Neuenahr, has been at your disposal as a new colleague since mid-February 2009. The professionally trained office clerk used to play the piano for over 7 years during her youth and is now happy to revive her old hobby through her work. Having strengthened her English skills during an 8-month stay abroad, she is now also polishing her French language skills. Besides her duties as a commercial employee, she is also happily at your disposal if you want to arrange a tuning appointment, and for questions regarding a piano purchase or our piano rental system.

Marketing and distribution

Mathilde Hübner was born in Oberhausen and embodies the good spirit of Pianohaus Hübner. Trained as a businesswoman, she left Oberhausen city council in 1956 and subsequently worked for the BABCOCK factory as an office clerk. She consolidated her Englisch skills, which she gained during her employment at BABCOCK, with a year abroad in the United Kingdom. In 1961 Mrs Hübner moved to Trier, where she made first contact with customers of the piano trade during her work as a secretary at the Musikhaus Schellenberg. Since then Mrs Hübner has stayed true to keyboard instruments, and since the self-employment of her son she has been known among customers of the Pianohaus Marcus Hübner for her cordial, courteous and competent manner.

Transport leader

Marc Schlobach was born in 1983 in Trier. In addition to his business management training he began in 2006 as a freelancer in the transport team at Pianos Marcus Hübner. For three years he gained experience in piano transports of various kinds and took over in August 2009, the transport direction. For questions concerning the transport of your instrument is Marc Schlobach the right contact person. Since December 2009, the state-certified business assistant for data processing and skilled office administrator complements also our order management.

Michael Müller
Caretaker

Michael Müller, born in 1972 in Trier, is the all-rounder at Pianohaus Marcus Hübner. From August 2008 he has taken up his duties as caretaker. Because of his comprehensive craftsmanship experience – which he acquired as gable mason, floorer, interior decorator and upholsterer – he is constantly busy at Pianohaus Hübner. For example, in 2008 he transformed the inconspicuous rear part of the business into a modern show room for our digital pianos. Because he used to be employed as a transport agent for the business in the past, he has now also taken over as head of transport operations.

Hardi Waibel
Piano and harpsichord maker

Hardi Waibel, born on 23/08/1980 in Trier, finished succesfully his apprenticeship in trade of piano making at Pianohaus Hübner in february 2011. Several years ago, during his studies as a mechanical engineer, Mr Waibel joined our enterprise as a transport agent. Insights into the art of piano making, which he gained during his early involvement, enthused the musically and technically talented (then) A-Level student, and we are delighted that Mr Waibel decided to take up the trade of piano making. Hardi Waibel supports our staff in repairs and restorations, and continues to assist our customers in transport matters.

Rudi Becker
Painter and varnisher

Rudi Becker, born in Trier on 30/04/1955, has worked together with Pianohaus Marcus Hübner since 1995. The long-standing musician has specialised in keyboard instruments in his profession as lacquerer. In the paint shop Becker he produces a fresh finish for the surface of your piano. Apart from the restoration of the body of your piano he also offers re-colourings of your instrument: black semi gloss, white, blue and red are just a few examples for a restyling of your instrument's appearance.
